Bypass CAPTCHA Using Automatic Verification in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16

Before talking about how Apple enables you to put CAPTCHAs away, let’s first briefly understand what exactly it is and why it is used!

What is CAPTCHA and Why It Is Used in Apps and Websites?

In simple terms, CAPTCHA stands for the Completely Automated Public Turing test and is basically designed to differentiate between computers and humans. Apps and websites use it to distinguish between real and automated users like bots. It offers a set of challenges that are relatively difficult for computers but very easy for humans to perform. For instance, identifying bus, numbers and clicking in a specific area.

How Does iOS 16 Allow You to Bypass CAPTCHAs?

In the typical Apple fashion, the Cupertino giant has introduced a highly secure way to get rid of CAPTCHAs so that you will no longer have to deal with them. Now, the biggest question is, how does it work, and whether or not this convenience comes at the cost of security? Well, for secure verification, Apple uses iCloud to automatically and privately verify your device and account. The entire process happens behind the scene so that you do not have to wait to get into an app or website. Therefore, you can bank on it to keep your personal information safeguarded. And more importantly, it keeps your browsing or app usage smooth sailing; unlike the newly-announced Lockdown Mode which disables several services and features in order to double down on protection.

Bypass CAPTCHAs Automatically on iPhone and iPad

  1. First off, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 16/iPadOS 16.
  2. Now, tap on your profile aka the Apple ID banner at the top of the screen.
  3. Next, tap on Password & Security.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom and then ensure that the toggle next to Automatic Verification is turned on.   That’s done! iOS will now let you keep CAPTCHAs at a fair distance while using apps and websites.

Final Words…

When it comes to security and privacy, Apple has been leading from the front for quite some time. As someone who has been a loyal user of iOS for a long time, I am really pleased with the arrival of this highly user-friendly feature.  Speaking of iOS 16, it’s loaded with a ton of cool features including the ability to remove background from photos and find and delete duplicate images with ease. Barring a few expected issues like battery drain on iPhone, it has been quite stable so far. That said, what has been your experience with the latest iteration of iOS?
